Color study and edits

January 17, 2011 § 1 Comment

For my color study I chose the color orange. It was a bit difficult to find orange especially since everything is covered in snow!

Taken 1/15/11 on BYU-I Campus, f/18, shutter speed 1/10, I also used a tripod

My friend Garret at Sammy's Cafe on 1/14/11, f/3.5, shutter speed 1/40, I cropped the image in photoshop

Taken 1/17/11 at 8 am near the Rexburg Nature Park, f/36, shutter speed 1/15

Taken 1/13/11 on Campus, f/5, shutter speed 1/400

For the Editing portion of this post, I blended two images together, an image of a sunset that I took last week, and a picture of a reflection pool in front of the Salt Lake Temple that I took earlier this month. I blended the sunset into the reflection pool. Here are the two original and the final blend.

For this second edit I did a type overlay, which is something I’ve never done before. Although this one didn’t come out as well as I’d hoped I am interested in continuing to experiment because I think there are lots of cool things you can do with this type of editing.

The color study turned out nicely- The lighting on Garret Sherwood is great- gives the picture emotion and depth. Your blend of the sky and the pool was genius- I really liked that effect. Your depth of field shot was great too. Everything was sharp and the colors look good.
